How to choose between them
DIY systems ship with sealed, pre-charged line sets that screw onto the indoor and outdoor units, so there's no vacuum pump or refrigerant handling. You still mount the head and condenser and need a dedicated circuit, often wired by an electrician.
The trade-off is line length: the pre-charged set comes in fixed lengths, so plan the outdoor unit's position around it.
