Multi-Zone Mini-Split Systems
One outdoor unit running two to four indoor heads, compared on total capacity, the head sizes in each kit, efficiency and voltage.
A multi-zone system runs several indoor heads from one condenser, so each room gets its own thermostat without a condenser per room. The condenser's total capacity is shared, and the maker lists which head sizes it accepts and the maximum combined capacity of the heads.
Size each head to its room, then check the total against the condenser. Kits that ship with matched heads are simplest; mix-and-match condensers need you to stay inside the maker's compatibility table, line-set lengths and total piping limits.
